8. For spirituality

In short:

Ultimately human beings are , spiritual beings.  But the other living creatures, plants, animals etc also have  a measure of their own spirituality, according to their degree of evolutions and state. In addition to this, in the history of civilization , religions were formed usually around special persons (leaders in communication with superior spiritual beings, son’s of god, prophets etc) that were supposed to offer better ways of communication with the spiritual world, by drawing attention of the public to a person and its teachings, or to books or to temples.
As we humans seek for higher spiritual inspiration so the nature's other creatures spirituality, may seek inspiration from humans too

All the above point to one realization: Human beings cannot  live with sufficient quality without a constant interplay with their spiritual side. We may think of breathing as a metaphor for the spiritual interplay. We have strong needs like the need to eat, the need to drink water, but without breathing we would not be able to live more than a few minutes. It is the ultimate need, that we most often forget. Spirituality in the simplest terms may mean that we always seek to increase our ability to exist and act from inside-out and not only from outside-in. It means always trying to increase the deepness of the free-will and attain more self-government.
Spirituality means also being aware of the spiritual principles that you follow. Looking to discover your  spiritual principles is a great step to self-development and social development.

The paths to spirituality and the search for the sacred and non-sacred are many: Through every thing in the biosphere; through our individual self; through creativity in an art or science; through a special  religion or section of religion; through the collective emotionality; or the collective intelligence; or through the most important of religions of the humanity together; through a private "religion"; through humanity as a total; through larger parts of the world than one planet. We try always to find what is best for us, and we respect the others that have found and chose their way.

Life would not be  not worth living without self  inner analysis , search for spiritual principles and perpetual  improvement.
Inner-attention, inner-listening, cultivation of visions, meditation, or  praying, self-knowledge, cultivation of positive mental and emotional attitudes etc, are primary goals.

Deep spirituality has sometimes healing effects to the individual, society and nature.
Nevertheless in order not to betray our own consciousness and spirituality,  we must take actions and commit to them, based on our spiritual realizations. In other words there must exist congruence between our sphere of spiritual  understanding, and our external expressions and actions. This guarantees the purity of our intentions , ways and existence. Our voiced words, and our body-language and actions must have congruence.

A mathematical system may be a metaphor for the discrimination between the mind and the spirit. The arguments and the proofs in the mathematical system correspond to the mind. But the axioms of it, correspond to the spiritual principles and beliefs.

Here is  a suggested list of  the creative stages that self-development that a human being goes through  :

1) The Wandering
Where we come from, why, our purpose and gathering our "tools".

2) Initiation:
Preparing our own path, each one different and hopefully centering.

3) Honoring:
Understanding the Source of our creation. Recognizing the sacred in oneself.

4) Stating Intention: Realizing and acknowledging ones true purpose to create Self.

5.1) Surrender : Letting go of control to allow vulnerability. To learn what is already known.

5.2) Embrace our own hidden-self :
Walking into the unknown parts of Self. Being and becoming the Void.

6) Lighting the Flame in the Heart: Connecting to Self and finding meaningful, honest, ritual.

7)  Transformation: Climbing the ladder of self-responsibility, to hold a vision of Being One-ness, Being the vision that alters all perception.

8) Becoming Human: Empathy and compassion toward all. Being in truly responsible relationships.

9) Walking The Path: Integrating all of life's experiences. Being a teacher by Being.

10) Service: Discarding the illusion of separateness. Total approach to life in humility and joy.

11) Believing in  , honoring, and service of the deeper Existence
Giving value and practice to  the deeper Existence is the creation of Self.

The new self is created at four (4) levels   in our existence.

1) At first by introducing new life-long goals and intentions, and new global metaphors for the world.
2) Second by functioning with new thoughts, and feelings.
3) Third by conducting new activities.
4) And forth by resulting in to new possessions and bodily habits, as responsible interaction at subtle and coarse material levels.

The passage from the one level to the next and the overall coordination is through the virtue of congruence.

Probably one of the most difficult parts in creating self, is when this self is part of the evolution of the collective consciousness  of a whole civilization, in which case tuning to it, and being appreciated and honoured is the most difficult part.

In a less developed stage of civilization, the individuals fulfill themselves by having.
In a little more developed stage of civilization, the individuals fulfill themselves by doing.
In an more advanced developed stage of civilization, the individuals fulfill themselves by thinking and feeling.
In a even more advanced development stage of civilization, the individuals fulfill themselves by being.

The ego of a personality seems to be the agent that decides and separates what we consider as self and what we consider consciousness and non-self.

The levels, be, think, do, have, define correspondingly  among different human beings, not only different levels selves, but also different level of egos
The lower type of ego is linked with what we have and what we have not (usually private property) or the physical body.
The bit less lower type of ego, is linked with what we do , our actions and what we  do not do.
A higher type of ego, is linked with what we think and write or produce  in creative work, and what not.
And an even higher type of ego , is linked with what we consider spiritual self, life-long intention  and what not.
